gozo farmhouse
Gozo Farmhouse forms part of our long-term investment portfolio, where we secure strategically located properties on 15–20 year leases and reposition them for sustainable short-term rental performance.
Located on the island of Gozo, this 400-year-old structure began life as a barn, embedded in the island’s agricultural history. When acquired, it was structurally sound but dated — renovated in the early 2000s and managed without clear design direction. The architecture was strong; the experience was not.
The intervention was primarily cosmetic but decisive. Exposed stone walls, thick insular masonry, and timber beams were preserved, reinforcing its distinctly Gozitan character — rustic, social, grounded. Bathrooms were redesigned in a creamy limestone and soft blue palette to bring cohesion and lightness. Furnishings were replaced throughout, with particular emphasis on the outdoor areas, previously underutilised despite being the property’s greatest asset.
One of the largest private pools on the island anchors the exterior, positioned deliberately to attract group bookings. Outdoor living was expanded with lounge areas, a substantial dining table, a traditional stone grill, and a fire pit — paired with the indoor fireplace to extend usability into shoulder seasons.
Mornings are tranquil: thick stone walls holding the cool air, sun rising over terraces. Evenings shift to intimacy — firelight, long dinners, shared time.
Sleeping up to nine across four bedrooms, the farmhouse is positioned for families and friend groups seeking authentic rural charm rather than polished minimalism. Performance remains solid, with ongoing strategy focused on increasing longer winter stays.
