This project was developed for a concept competition for the royal family of Morocco. The brief was to develop a plot of land near Fès in Morocco to accommodate the immediate royal family in a private villa, be able to host guests in an 8-suite hotel complex complete with spa and sport facilities, and also to celebrate the local community with an art gallery, café, and community centre.

The design is guided by the four classical elements—earth, air, water, and fire - the foundation for integrating sustainability with architecture:

Earth is represented in the use of rammed earth construction, a sustainable and thermally efficient material that blends traditional techniques with modern performance.

Air flows naturally through open courtyards and geothermal ventilation systems, reducing energy needs and ensuring cool, refreshing spaces.

Water is central to our design, reflective pools and fountains not only enhance the retreat's beauty but also contribute to cooling the environment.

Fire, in the form of sunlight, powers the retreat through solar panels optimised for energy capture.

The elements together create a sustainable and enriching environment that aligns with the spirit of the land.
